Development of an internet based Infrastructure for the Remote Monitoring of
Stationary Measuring Devices in Industry
The need for decreasing tolerances and the introduction of
quality management (QM) systems in industry demands a secured monitoring
of all measuring devices relevant for the quality assurance (QA). This is
a difficult task for highly specialized experts, particularly
for technical complex measuring devices such as coordinate
measuring machines (CMM), form, gear and custom measuring devices
in the production. Small and medium enterprises (SME) often can
not afford for economical reasons an own infrastructure and expert
to solve this problem. For these companies the monitoring and diagnosis
of their measuring devices is provided by service providers (also
SME). However, the service costs are high primarily due to the
necessary travel of the service provider´s expert. The use of the internet
(WWW) is to reduce the service costs and to additionally increase the quality and
frequency of the service. Thus changes of the measuring devices
can be detected faster and more reliable to minimize negative
influences on the product quality.
