Reference Software for roughness measurement

Two new standards of type F1 and F2 are defined in ISO 5436-2.

Standards of type F1 are computer data files written in an exchange data format described in this ISO standard which depict a digital representation of a total surface or profile in a suitable recording medium. These measurement standards are used to test software by using them as input data into the software under test and comparing the results from the software under test with the certified results from the calibration certificate of the softgauge.

Standard of type F2 is the reference software. Reference software consists of traceable computer software against which software in a measuring instruments can be compared.

The software for roughness analysis developed in PTB is used as reference software of type F2 defined in ISO 5436-2. The goal is to have traceable computer software for the calculation of roughness parameters, based on international standards. This program fulfils conditions which are related to the software quality management rules and fulfils demands according to ISO 12119.
