Explosion-protected Field Bus and Supply Systems

The main disadvantage of the type of protection "Intrinsic Safety" is the low power which is available - in most cases less then 3 W. Basic research done by PTB has indicated that a considerable increase of the power – up to 20 W – can be achieved when taking advantage of certain effects of the spark ignition behaviour.

The particular field of activity of the working group 3.62 is the transformation of these results into industrial use and applications.
