Tasks

The following tasks are processed at the Acoustics and Dynamics Department

 

Realization of Acceleration
  • Realization and dissemination of the unit acceleration
  • Calibration of transducers, measuring chains and measuring instruments
  • Research and development on standard methods of measurement and standard measuring devices
  • Comparision measurements (national and international)
  • Development and investigation of acceleration exciters and of precise methods for the measurement
  • Co-operation within the framework of the Deutscher Kalibrierdienst (DAkkS) and in national and international standardization bodies
  • Selected fundamental metrological investigations (Scientifico-technical co-operation; national and international)
Applied Acoustics
  • Development of acoustic measurement procedures and test facilities
  • Testing and Calibration of acoustic measurement equipment and test facilities
  • Quality management in applied acoustics
  • Basic investigations into structure-borne sound
  • Mathematical methods in applied acoustics
  • Cooperation in national and international standardization
Impact Dynamics
  • Development of methods and devices for the traceable calibration of force transducers with impulse-shaped loads forces
  • Fundamental research in the field of simultanous multi-component calibration of accelerometers
  • Co-operation within the framework of the Deutscher Kalibrierdienst (DAkkS)
Thermal Transport
  • Realization and dissemination of a practical thermal conductivity scale
  • Realization and dissemaination of a practical thermal diffusivity scale
  • Research and development in thermodynamics concerning the measurement of thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and volumetric specific heat
  • Development of new and optimization of established measurement techniques for thermal transport properties and volumetric specific heat
  • Precision measuring in thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of solids and fluids
  • Numerical simulations of temperature profiles by finite elements methods, especially for thermal transport properties measuring devices
  • Calibration and certification of thermal conductivity reference-materials
  • Cooperation in standardization (DIN, CEN, ISO) and with DIBt, the german approval body for construction products and types of construction
  • Advisory services in matter of the Deutscher Kalibrierdienst (German Calibration Service) in the field of the measurand “thermal conductivity”
