Room Acoustics

Reference Data

Possibilities to check calculation results on simple room structures are offered here to users and developers of room simulation programs. In a multistage procedure a relatively simple room is given first. Its walls have uniform reflexion properties and the coordinates of 2 sources (S1,S2) and 3 receivers (R1,R2,R3) are included. The room is the PTB studio and the data will be adapted to real conditions gradually.
Furthermore a data collection will be made available including absorption and diffusivity properties on surface materials existing so far. Those data are needed by room simulation programs (mostly) in octave sectors to simulate the reflexion properties of sound waves on walls. The databank will be completed regularly with appearance of new materials and constructions.

hoffnung_tuba.gif (8763 Byte) Most of the sound sources in rooms simulated by room simulation programs are musical instruments. That's why the knowledge of the reflexion properties is most important for the source description.

Such data gained by measurements at 1.73 previously will be provided in future (literature: "Akustik und Musikalische Aufführungspraxis" by Jürgen Meyer, 3rd edition, Fachbuchreihe das Musikinstrument, published by Bochinsky, Frankfurt 1995).
