Room Acoustics
Services
The staff at working group 1.73 "Room
Acoustics" can perform services in form of a cooperation for any client, who is
interested in investigations on special matters or large projects in the field of room
acoustics, room acoustic simulation or the measuring techniques on rooms or any sound
sources like musical instruments. The services are calculated globally or by the time
spent on, the rates result from § 3 of the cost decree for PTB services in the presently
valid version from 17.12.2001 (BGBI. I S. 3753). The hourly rate is at the moment Eur 89,13.

For investigations the project has two special
rooms with extensive measuring equipment available. These are a small anechoic chamber
with a floorspace of 20 m2 and a height of 3 m (V=60 m3)
and a chamber music studio with variable acoustic properties and
a floorspace of 80 m2 and a height of 5,5 m (V= 450 m3).
Beyond that exists access to further large anechoic chambers, a semianechoic chamber with
a hard floor surface and reverberation rooms with room limiting walls that are either
oblique-angled or consist of cylinder segments. The following room simulation programs are
used:CAESAR, CATT (7.2), EASE (4.0), ODEON (5.0), RAMSETE(2.0)
Besides the active work on acoustics by order
the project makes data available to users and developers
of room acoustical simulation programs via internet. It allows the comparison of
calculations. The data include the geometry of a reference room and its absorption grades and diffusivity
properties and measured impulse responses. These and
further data are well suited to use in private studies.
