| In the Federal Republic of Germany, all measuring
instruments
used to deliver or receive liquids in commercial transactions must
be pattern-approved by the PTB, provided this has been stipulated in
the Verification Ordinance. The Department for Liquid Flow is a service
department in the field of legal metrology. In addition to granting
pattern
approvals for liquid meters and auxiliary devices, it inspects and
accepts
test facilities in test centres recognized by the state. Through its
collaboration in boards and committees, the section, in close
cooperation
with industry and verification authorities, makes an important
contribution
to the drawing up of standards and regulations. Another focal point of the department`s work is the development of standard measuring devices for the realization of the units of volume flowrate and mass flowrate as well as volume and mass of flowing liquids. These activities entail the development of transfer standards and the execution of comparison measurements. |
