The scientific activities cover in particular the improvement of the existing standard measuring devices and the development and investigation of transfer standards suited to disseminate the units of these standards to lower-level measuring instruments. At present, this concerns above all the extension of the range of application of sonic nozzles: 

• Use of sonic nozzles below the flow ranges standardized so far (at present 35 m³/h) to at least 15 dm³/h; 
• Use of sonic Venturi nozzles with variable flowrate.
