Pattern approval and testing of nonautomatic weighing instruments (NAWI) according european directive 90/384/EEC and norm EN 45501 . Pattern approval and testing of automatic weighing instruments (AWI) according national legislation (Eichordnung, Anlage 10). A representativ sample is tested for its metrological quality and for immunity to electro-magnetic disturbances. These tests are performed in the test facalities of Working Groups 1.12, 1.13, 1.14 and 2.21 of  PTB. In addition to pattern approval certificates, Working Group 1.12 also issues , additions, revisions and parallel approvals.
