New explosion protection concept promises huge energy savings

For his innovative ideas, the PTB scientist Christian Lehrmann receives the Adolf Martens Prize 2008

17.6.2008

[es] More than 100 million Euros in energy costs could be saved in German chemical and petrochemical enterprises if, in future, the approval testing of explosion-protected motors and the corresponding frequency converters could be undertaken separately from one another. For the respective concept, with which unnecessary testing of the entire system (motor plus converter) is avoided, Christian Lehrmann, engineer at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), receives the Adolf Martens Prize 2008 for safety engineering, industrial safety and related areas.
