[ptb] Inaccurate only from the 18th digit on, after the comma - with such inconceivable accuracy, the scientists of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) have in cooperation with French col-leagues transmitted the frequency of an optical atomic clock over a distance of 211 km. And also the "Metrology Light Source" in Berlin will enable measurements of the highest accuracy. The low-energy electron storage ring, optimised for metrological use, has now delivered its first light. These are only two examples of the abundance of news from the high-tech world of highly accurate measurement, for which the PTB with its two locations - in Braunschweig and Berlin - stands for. In PTB's newest Annual Report, information is provided on the achievements of the past year - with a considerably expanded news block as well as with basic numbers and facts and the detailed reports by the divisional heads. The complete Annual Report can be found in the Internet (www.ptb.de > English Version > Publications > Annual Reports); excerpts are presented in a printed brochure (180 pages) and can be ordered from the Press and Information Office.
