Scenes from research - latest issue of maßstäbe
"I dearly love physics!" the physicist Lise Meitner once said. Not every pupil will absolutely agree here. But nonetheless, many a person, who as a pupil could not become enthusiastic about the natural sciences, has later decided on a (professional) life in the laboratory. Perhaps he or she suddenly found it to be appealing to directly participate in the things which comprise our high-tech world. Other motivations may be to better understand everyday occurring phenomena or even the big picture. How "people in the laboratory" think and work, has been collected in samples by PTB in the latest issue of their scientific-journalistic magazine maßstäbe. What has emerged is an issue full of personalities, all as varied and complex as the natural sciences themselves. An issue that is just as suitable as an orientation for selecting one's major course of study or career choice, or simply to browse, perhaps sometimes also to chuckle about the peculiar world behind the walls of a research institute. The maßstäbe can be subscribed to, free of charge, at PTB's Press and Information Office (presse@ptb.de) and can also be ordered as a whole set for school classes or student seminars. In addition to issue 10 "Menschen im Labor" ("People in the laboratory") - hot off the press - there are still a few remaining copies of earlier issues available.
