International Workshop on Dimensional Metrology for Large Drivetrain Components

August 29, 2017
9:00-17:00

Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)
Braunschweig, Germany

During this one-day workshop results from the EMRP Project DriveTrain as well as the respective industrial points of view were presented. The DriveTrain project provides new measurement standards and strategies as well as evaluation procedures to ensure reliable quality assurance for large drivetrain components. Moreover, a special focus lies on the quantification of the large scale specific measurement uncertainty influences like workpiece temperature distribution or deflection by gravity.

Workshop topics included:

-    Introduction in metrology for wind energy systems and future activities in this field
-    Highlights and outcome of the DriveTrain project
-    Metrology on large components from the industrial point of view:
Presentations by Hexagon, Klingelnberg, Schaeffler and Zeiss
-    Preview of the new EMPIR project "Digitisation-ready metrology for drivetrain components"
-    Visit of PTB laboratories (e.g. the new Competence Center WIND)
