On March 26th, 2012 PTB – International Technical Cooperation proudly presents:

A QUANTUM OF Qi

to celebrate not only the 125th anniversary of PTB – the national metrology institute of Germany, but also 50 years of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development – BMZ.

But what is QI??

Quality Infrastructure is necessary to guarantee a good quality of life, sustainable economic development, consumer and environmental protection.

Those are exactly the goals of International Development Cooperation: a better life for all, fighting poverty, fostering health and saving the environment. QI is the basis for the sustainable achievement of those objectives and that is why PTB implements German Technical Cooperation projects worldwide. As a global player in the area of QI we support the implementation of the prerequisites of WTO agreements to support fair trade, reliable measurements in consumer and environmental protection and contribute to sustainable development.

The complex system of QI encompasses the art of accurate measuring known as metrology, as well as a functioning standardization, reliable testing facilities, last but not least internationally recognized certification and accreditation schemes.

PTB has partnerships with almost all metrology institutes in the world, with very special connections to partners in emerging and developing economies where PTB conducts over 50 Technical Cooperation projects. This allows PTB to provide a significant contribution to the development of the QI in those countries and regions.

Development happens with and through economic cooperation. Entrepreneurship on local, regional and international markets is essential for assuring employment, social security and broadly impacting growth. Knowledge is the key to independent and participatory development of a society. Sharing knowledge in networks to foster cooperation in research and education is part of our integrated approach. Innovation processes in our partner countries are needed to take advantage of the opportunities of globalization, to emancipate from aid and to develop prosperity.

The topics on our agenda are: Development Cooperation, Economic Development, Education, Regional Integration and Innovation. A combination of speeches, podium discussions and world-cafes will involve all participants.

Please join us at this exciting event where we look forward to having many networking opportunities and to provoking interesting discussions on innovative ideas.

Let's learn from each other to make our future and the future of QI even better!
