    Standardization bodies

The European standardization bodies CEN and CENELEC, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) nd the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) draw up standards, which (as a rule) can be voluntarily observed by industry.

    EA

The "European cooperation for Accreditation" is an association in which the accreditation body of the Deutscher Kalibrierdienst (DKD, German Calibration Service) - which is meanwhile muted to the "Metrology" Division of the "Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH" (German accreditationbody, DAkkS) - and other European accreditation bodies have joined together. Its main task is to harmonize accreditation criteria and testing and inspection methods. Objective: the border-crossing recognition of calibration certificates, test reports and certificates.

    ILAC

The "International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation" is the international equivalent of the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA). Members are accreditation bodies from all over the world. 38 such bodies, among them the accreditation body of the "Deutscher Kalibrierdienst" (DKD, German Calibration Service) - or its succcessor, the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) - are signatories to the ILAC agreement on the mutual recognition of calibration certificates and test reports.
