The elements of a project

Advice

Practice-related training courses in the partner country of the PTB. Here sphygmomanometers are tested in accordance with international recommendations.

The consultants work several years at the partner institute or they cooperate some weeks in solving specific tasks. Training trips of project partners to Germany are also part of the program.

Basic and advanced training

The success of a project decisively depends on the qualification of the staff of the partner institute, so basic and advanced training plays an important role. Specialist training takes up to one year depending on the previous experience. Advanced training as a rule does not take longer than three months. In addition seminars and practical courses are held, in part together with international organizations.

Supply of materials and equipment

Part of the project funds are used to equip the measurement and test laboratories of the partner institute. For the selection of the equipment it is important that it is suitable for the tasks to be solved and that no follow-up costs are incurred the partner cannot bear in the long run.

Accreditation and certification

As guest scientists foreign researchers can perfect their metrological knowledge at the PTB and acquaint themselves with the measuring equipment of the PTB. This possibility was profited from in 2000 by 73 scientists.

The PTB accredits laboratories of the partner institutes in accordance with international directives and thus demonstrates the competence of the partners. This facilitates their international recognition.
