Technical Cooperation

Department Q.5

For more than 50 years, PTB has shared its core competence in international development cooperation. It supports developing and emerging economies in the comprehensive field of quality infrastructure.

The outstanding effects of the cooperation are reflected in the economic development and the strengthening of consumer protection. Furthermore, a functioning quality infrastructure is an essential prerequisite for the protection of the environment, the development of renewable energies or a reliable health system.

PTB contributes to sustainable economic, social and ecological development. PTB is committed to the development policy of the German Government and acts according to international goals (Millennium Development Goals, Paris Declaration).

Dear Readers,

As the old year comes to an end, we would like to welcome you to a new edition of Candela. In today's publication we would like to inform you about two of our projects from Asia as well as a new project in Tunisia. Besides other short reports on project activities from the various working groups, you will find an article on 25 years of cooperation with Mexico along with a look back at the QI Days we organized this May. We also have some internal news about our department – on 1 June 2014 Ms Kristin Kulgemeyer became the Head of Working Group "Q.54 Africa and the Middle East".

We would like to thank you for your interest and look forward to our further cooperation.

Best wishes for a successful New Year,

Marion Stoldt
