Helmholtz Prize for Metrology
Hermann-von-Helmholtz

The Helmholtz Prize endowed with € 20 000 is the most distinguished German award in the world of metrology. Every two years, the Helmholtz-Fonds (Helmholtz Foundation) and also the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft (Donors' Association for the Promotion of Science and Humanities in Germany) pay tribute to European scientists for precision measurements in physics, chemistry and medicine.

Participants must meet the following criteria:

  • The work to be submitted must be a recent research achievement of a theoretical or experimental nature
  • The work may either contribute to fundamentals or aim at concrete applications
  • The work must have been developed in Europe or in cooperation with scientists working in Germany

The prize will be awarded on the basis of the manuscripts submitted, by an expert committee composed of acknowledged scientists. The experts will be appointed by the Board of the Helmholtz-Fonds e.V. Their decision will be final.
