The working group develops new methods for the realization of the temperature scale in the high temperature range up to 2200 °C. In a specific high temperature furnace the dependability of novel thermocouples and eutectic graphite carbon fixed-point cells are investigated. The novel fixed-point cells are intended to fill the gap regarding calibration of contact sensors between the copper point at 1085 °C and the melting temperature of platinum at 1769 °C. Furthermore, the working group is active in the development of a database of thermophysical properties of materials for industrial users within the European Virtual Institute for Thermal Metrology (evitherm).
