Tasks

  • Development of high-sensitivity SQUIDs (Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices) on the basis of conventional and high Tc superconductors
  • Construction of multi-channel sensor systems for biomagnetic research
  • Development of current sensors with fast SQUIDs and fast electronics for metrology of electrical quantities, for radiation detectors, for nuclear resonance experiments, and for cryo-current comparators
  • Development of thermometers (noise thermometers, magnetic nuclear resonance, paramagnetic susceptibility) for temperatures below 1 K
  • Dielectric properties and quantum phenomena of glasses in magnetic fields and at very low temperatures
  • Investigation of the specific heat of glasses in magnet fields and at low temperatures
  • Field-theoretical description of nuclear demagnetization cooling
  • Development and application of reference-free X-ray fluorescence analysis at BESSY II
  • Microspectrometry in the IR an THz regime at the Metrology Light Source (MLS)
