At the PTB laboratory at BESSY II the working group operates two beamlines for the exploitation of calculable synchrotron radiation of a bending magnet and one beamline for use of direct undulator radiation. Moreover, the working group operates the instrumentation for the measurement of the storage ring parameters that are needed for the calculation of the synchrotron radiation. At the MLS the working group is intensively involved in the operation of the MLS, especially for the utilization as a primary source standard. The working group operates - in analogy to the equipment at BESSY II - the instrumentation for the measurement of the storage ring parameters and a beamline for the use of calculable synchrotron radiation.
The calibration of radiation sources in terms of spectral radiant intensity and spectral radiance is based on the calculable synchrotron radiation from bending magnets. Currently, at BESSY II a station for the calibration of radiation sources in the spectral range from 35 nm to 400 nm is in operation. A new station with an extended wavelength range from 7 nm to 400 nm is under construction at the MLS.
The working group is also responsible for the operation of the undulator U180 at the MLS and a corresponding beamline line for undispersed undulator radition.
