Tasks

It is the Section's task to make available measuring devices and calibration methods for the dissemination of the measurand ''plane angle''. The angle comparators used as standard measuring devices are angle-measuring tables with circular scales serving as angle standards. In the field of research and development, the Section's tasks are at present focussed on the following fields:

• Reduction of the uncertainty of measurement in the calibration of angle standards and angle-measuring instruments
• Development of an angular interferometer for the measurement of small angles
• Use of a ring laser for dynamic angle measurements
