High-Frequency Measuring Techniques
Working Group 2.22

Tasks

The principal task of the working group high frequency measuring techniques is the development of national standards and measurement setup an routines for the following HF measurands:

HF power
HF attenuation
HF voltage
HF scattering parameters (S-parameters, reflection and transmission coefficients)
HF characteristic impedance (mechanical dimensions of coaxial impedance standards)

The lower frequency limit is 1 MHz. HF-standards are calibrated to provide traceability of the HF transfer standards of accredited calibration laboratories of the Deutscher Kalibrierdienst (DKD, German Calibration Service) as well as other measuring instruments from industry and from national and international research establishments to national standards. This is done with the highest accuracy, using different coaxial and waveguide systems. The methods applied for this purpose are state-of-the-art techniques and are applied in a similar way in many leading national metrology institutes. An important task of the working group is the assessment of calibration laboratories of the DKD with respect to the above-mentioned HF measurands.
