The PTB is carrying out an integrated quality management system comprising the four fields of work fundamentals of metrology, metrology for economy, metrology for society and international affairs.
PTB's quality management system meets the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17 025 as well as the principles of the quality standard ISO 9001:2000 and if applicable the standards of the series EN 45 000 or ISO/IEC 17 000 as well as ISO Guide 34. Furthermore the recommendations for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice by the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG - German Research Association) - one of our sponsors for the research and development program - are integrated in the quality management system.
These demands are a basis of a permanent process of self-assessment of quality management system by the management of the PTB.
The quality management system is successfully reviewed by international expert committee since 2001. The internal quality documents and records submitted serve to prove the metrology achievements of PTB are fully covered by the quality management system and meet the requirements of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (CIPM-MRA) for national measurement standards and for calibration and measurement certificates.
