International Summer School on Metrology 2015

held by PTB with support of the Helmholtz-Fonds e. V. and in cooperation with the Braunschweig International Graduate School of Metrology

Metrology – the science of correct measurement – is an important cornerstone of our industrialized society. It has an impact on essentially every aspect of our lives, but is seldom visible to outside eyes. Its continued reliability is typically taken as granted. Metrological progress is a key enabler for technical development and, thus, for innovation. Given the prevailing economic and social challenges we are faced with, the role and the further development of metrology is therefore of extraordinary importance for progress in technology and science.

Supporting tomorrow’s experts in academia and industry in this context is of particular importance and is an integral part of PTB’s philosophy. To foster metrological knowledge, PTB with support of the Helmholtz-Fonds e. V. and in cooperation with the Braunschweig International Graduate School of Metrology will be holding an international summer school on metrology from the 24th early afternoon to the 28th of August 2015 early afternoon at Kloster Drübeck which is located about 50 km south of Braunschweig at the border of the Harz mountains.

We welcome applications from those engaged in natural sciences and engineering research. There will be 70 places available for German and international PhD students.

The school will be conducted in English. It will feature a strong interactive element and the opportunity for attendees to network with our speakers, thus a good standard of comprehension and of spoken English is essential.
